Power Over Ethernet (POE) Injectors

There was once a time when “technology” was way behind “time”. The tables have turned around now and its apt to say “technology” is catching up to “time”. These statements are supported by the face that Ethernet Cables, which were just a communication link earlier to transfer data to devices, can now even be used to transfer Power to those devices as well with the introduction of POE, i.e Power over Ethernet Technology.

With a simple mechanism to add additional power transferring devices ,called POE injectors to older Ethernet cables, the functionality of Ethernet cables can be increased many folds without any considerable cost to incur. These POE injectors combined with different Poe switches can transfer data along with safe and reliable power to endpoint devices without any need for additional power cables, which in turn reduces overall cabling costs.

Benefits of POE can include :

    Saved time
    Low installation cost
    Provides Power backup (just like UPS) to all devices
    Prevents data loss in case of power loss from main Power source
    Centralized operation of power to all devices

The devices making use of POE technology includes POE clocks and POE keypads.

The advantages of POE keypads over regular outdoor keypads are that :

    Can receive power directly from any part of network
    Can be accessed and controlled and synchronized by any part of the network using POE injector
    Can receive data and power from any part of network
    Requires very low wattage and doesn't damages the cables

Thus we can say, the POE technology has immense potential for present and future networking needs.
